Alive

I wrote this poem several years ago.  It speaks volumes of  the mental state that year.
Are you breaking out
Or are you checkin out
Self destruction/Is passion misdirected
Thats what its all about
My walk’s uphill from here on out
Energy burning inside of me
I’ve got doubts/Tryin’ to let it out
Drowning in self-inflicted misery
Silence fuels agony / Pain finds a place to grow
Eats me alive/These chains
Vicious cycles got me so low

Wake up, (wake up)
Turn on the lights..
Time to bail this merry go round.
When life is jail and what you found
quit that life before it brings you down

Memories play in the theatre of my mind
Stop/fast forward/don’t hit rewind
Whats left / when things run out
You’ll find out what its about
No pain no gain / Let go
Progression is futile when you dont
Searching for control
Drugs wont let anger flow
Oppression has never been control
Channel the storm/cloud your head
Wake up/stay in bed
In a haze/Miss the lesson
Self-sabotage in your depression

This is the kind of ragged stanza poem that hooks me. Its not just expressing your feelings but morphs into a positive outlook by the end! Surprisingly, a lot of people can’t do this well. Great work man!
