Stimulation

And when I say ‘stimulation,’   I’m not talking about anything sexytimes related.

I mean the rush.  Any rush will do.

When I was 12, my grandmother gave me a cappucino machine for Christmas.  She lived in Rhode Island so it arrived as a package in the mail.  (exciting)   I’d recently discovered coffee, and it was so fascinating because it was such a “grown-up” thing to do, like shaving one’s legs.   Up until the cappucino machine, I’d scrounge together enough money to buy a coffee at the mall on random occasions.

I unwrapped and assembled the machine.   It would be regarded as unimpressive in this day and age,  some 18 years later.  But…. It was fabulous, and even included a steam/froth sidepeice.   I learned how to operate the machine, and realized how this changed everything.  My caffiene consumption was, for the first time, without boundaries.   And so, I brewed cup…after cup…after cup.  One after the other, I drank.  Even when I got shaky,  I brewed on.   The unpleasant side effects of too much caffiene were tolerable because for once,  I could focus on doing something.

My cappucino binges lasted for a few months or so, then I got distracted, and forgot all about the cappucino machine.

Until a few days ago, I forgot all about my earliest experience going overboard with a stimulant.   My sister reminded me about the cappucino machine when she heard a friend at work gave me a Nescafe Dolce Gusto.    I’m not sure why neither of my parents intervened.  I tend to think, they were not paying much attention.

The Nescafe Dolce Gusto.  I haven’t given a shit about coffee lately and am clueless about any type of coffee/cappucino/expresso machine fancier than the standard el cheapo kind one may use at a hotel.

Krups Dolce Gusto

It’s been a week now that I’ve been strung out.   There’s iced cappucino, regular, expresso, lattes….all sorts of fun to be had.  I don’t know why I do this.

My head is killing me.
